Women, especially post-menopausal women, often find that fat loss is difficult. It seems that being in the same room with food causes weight gain. We start looking for the fat burners for women, hoping that there is something special for weight loss by women.
Is all fat the same?
NO, all fat is not the same and we need to know a little more about fat! Unfortunately at this time in our lives extra weight, especially around the middle, can have special health risks. To understand what is happening to our body, we need to understand FAT. We can divide body fat into visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT). It is VAT fat that is the most dangerous, especially for women. We tend to have more VAT than men and excess VAT also is associated with several medical conditions. You can read the research on these types of fat visceral adipose tissue
Who tends to have more VAT and what does it matter?
Menopausal women with abdominal obesity have increased VAT around their internal organs and this type of obesity has been linked to insulin resistance, more infections, impairment of your lipid and glucose metabolism, longer hospital stays, heart conditions and other complications.
This bad news about FAT leads us again to the question, “Are there fat burners for women?” If we don’t want to end up with one of the health risks just stated, what can we do? Read more here.
What does the research say?
There is research that tells us that fat burners for women must include exercise. That is, if we want to get rid of the fat that causes the most problem, we need to exercise. Diet alone will not help with this type of fat.
A group of researchers divided 33 women of an average body mass index (BMI) of 34.6 into three groups, a “hypocaloric high monounsaturated fat diet alone, exercise alone, or exercise and diet for 14 weeks.” Women in both the diet group and diet and exercise group had similar loss of abdominal fat, SAT, but for loss of visceral fat (VAT), exercise was necessary.
What type of exercise is necessary as fat burners for women?
Now we need to ask, what type of exercise is best? This applies to both older women , and young ones. There is a study that compares high- intensity intermittent exercise (HIIE) with steady-state exercise (SSE). Forty five women with a BMI averaging 23.2 were randomly assigned to an HIIE group, an SSE group or a control group with no exercise for 15 weeks. Both groups of exercisers increased their cardiovascular fitness considerably. BUT only the HIIE group reduced their total body mass, fat mass and fat around their middle.
